I made the hike to Arrowwood to vote today. The only thing on the ballot is a technology bond for the schools. Arrowwood is about a fifteen minute walk from our house. I didn't time it right to take the bus, but the weather was good, so I walked. I figured I'd sit down on the sidewalk and rest before trying to walk back. The distance is about as far as I can walk without resting.

Of course, when I got there, they informed me that I no longer vote there. Instead, I needed to go to Delia's school. I almost cried. Delia's school is a three minute walk, and I was already there once today (and will be again twice more). Apparently, they redrew the districts. The polling place didn't have a current map. They just had a database of voters with the information as to where each is supposed to vote.

Fortunately for me, the next person in line after me was heading back into town and would go right by the school. He offered me a ride. I recognized him from around the school, and I was relatively desperate, so I accepted. He got me to the school pretty quickly, and I voted.

I'll have to remember to let Scott know that the district has changed. He'll be going to vote after work. I'm glad to have found this out now and not in November. Voting at the school, I might not need to vote by absentee ballot-- The line will be indoors. It would still be a lot of time on my feet, though, and a big crowd to set off my agoraphobia. I don't know.

Scott e-mailed Rec & Ed about the ending of Saturday's soccer game. The referee making the kids face off, kicking balls at the goalie was out of line. The coordinator of Rec & Ed's youth soccer program got back to him with an apology and a statement that this is not Rec & Ed policy. The referee did not need to record a winner. It won't make Delia feel better about the whole thing, but it should make sure that it doesn't happen again.
