Jun. 26th, 2012 10:35 amWe've put a cap on how much TV Delia is allowed to watch each day. The interesting thing is that, since I told her she was limited, she's hardly been watching at all, not even as much as she's allowed (except when a new Teen Titans DVD arrives. Then all bets are off). She's been playing with toys she hadn't touched for years, things Scott and I had been thinking to get rid of.
She's been reading the Goddess Girls series. She loves them. I wouldn't have thought to get them for her because the take on Greek mythology is so utterly wrong-- The books are written as if the gods and goddesses were high school students. The blurb for the book about Artemis mentioned a romance. Delia's been speeding through the books. She has one or two from the library that she hasn't finished yet, and I've asked the library to buy the one book they don't have yet and the book that's about to come out. I doubt Delia's the only kid loving these books.
Last night was kind of chilly, especially for June. Delia had a softball game at 6:30. The park where the field is has trees relatively near the softball/baseball diamond, so the spectators were in the shade (we'll be glad of that for Thursday's game which is there, too. Thursday is supposed to be in the 90s). The girls, of course, were in the sun, and the dust was incredible. Delia's shoes, socks and legs were gray by the end of the game. Delia managed to hit the ball about three times. She needs to practice throwing and catching. She says she likes softball a lot.
My legs have already started aching from the hike back and forth to Delia's camp. We're at the top of steep hill, and so is the camp, so I have a climb in both directions. Judging by last year, I'll be in constant pain by the end of the day tomorrow. It'll go away within a day or three of camp ending.
Scott will almost certainly have to work late a night or two this week. One person on second shift is on vacation, and another person has quit. It's going to depend on how many lines they're running. I don't know what to hope for-- Today's our anniversary (19th!). Tomorrow, the Babylon 5 game is supposed to meet. Thursday, we have another softball game. Friday, he normally does the grocery shopping. There's no good night for him to work late. I guess I mainly hope that he finds out his schedule soon. I'd like to be able to plan.
