Saturday, Scott and Delia went to see Brave. They took one of Delia's friends along. According to Scott, Delia sat through the previews just fine and didn't seem to be worried about them. (Previews are a big barrier to going to see movies. Delia had a bad experience with a really terrifying preview about three years ago and hasn't been willing to risk any since.) All three enjoyed the movie.

While they were gone, I wrote. I got almost finished with the story then hit a snag. I put the story aside to think about it and spent the rest of the evening reading a book.

Our DVR failed to record Legend of Korra in spite of my explicitly telling it to do so. The episode is up on the Nickelodeon website now, so we'll watch it on Scott's computer tomorrow night.

Sunday, I banged my head against the metaphorical wall until I finished the fic. I got it posted with some time to spare. Scott did the grocery shopping and the library run while Delia had a friend over. We had an early dinner then took Delia to softball practice. While she was doing that, Scott and I went to Whole Foods to return some bottles and look at a bunch of things we didn't buy. Then we went to Barnes & Noble. Scott commented that it's the first time in years that he's been in a bookstore without having to ride herd on Delia.

Delia has camp this week at the Leslie Science and Nature Center. We do a couple of weeks there every summer because it's within walking distance. There are other camps she'd probably like better, but I can't get her to them. She was really pleased, on arrival, to discover that one of her friends from school is there this week, too.

I inquired about how old kids have to be to be allowed to sign themselves out and walk home on their own. Delia could do it. I don't think she'd want to yet, but she could do it. There's only one street to cross, and it's a dead end with zero traffic. The counselor said she thought that kids had to be ten for the camp to be okay with it. She's going to ask and find out for me. I don't think, even if nine is considered old enough, that Delia is quite ready. She seems to want me there still (I know that won't last).
