Wednesday's lunch was a bagel, some lunchmeat and a cup of yogurt, so by no means as dire as I feared. I thought about going into town and eating out, but it was raining, and the lure of a meal like that wasn't enough to balance the walk to and wait at the bus stop.

Our freezer is dry and empty, waiting for us to turn it back on and put food into it. We'll be shopping tomorrow, most likely, so I probably ought to get it going again to give it a chance to cool down before we put ice cream in there. There was quite a bit of ice to melt off the racks, but the trays we put in to catch the water and the towels in the bottom of the freezer kept most of it from hitting the floor.

After school, Cordelia and I went to the book sale at the school. This was an Usborne book sale (the one in the fall is Scholastic). The books were largely non-fiction, and the selection skewed toward the younger side of things, but Cordelia found a few things she wanted. I also bought a book that Cordelia's teacher had wishlisted.

Scott's Babylon 5 game met Wednesday evening for the first time in several weeks. We were short one player, but we managed. Scott's laying groundwork for a story line for me for when our group gets to Earth. I'm not sure how I'm going to deal with it-- My character is a little weird (aren't they all?). Her primary consciousness comes from an alternate time line rather different from the game world. She has memories of the person from this timeline who she displaced (I think Scott's trying to do it as the two people having blended as he's been giving me bits and pieces of that person's memories). The character I'm playing is dedicated, honest and relatively ruthless. The person she displaced was a smuggler and criminal of some sort. She also left behind debts to some rather unpleasant people. I have to decide how much of the smuggler's habits and life my character is going to pick up. Scott's willing to have me get entangled in a lot of things in that direction. I just don't know if I'm interested.

Thursday evening, Cordelia's school had nine holes of putt putt golf in the gym. They do that a couple of times a year, and it's a dollar a round to play. There was also a free movie, food for sale and more of the book sale. Cordelia only wanted to see me when she wanted money, so I spent a lot of time in the book sale, trying to be interested in things I wasn't going to buy (though I did end up buying a book of easy science experiments to do with Cordelia. She says she's interested). I wandered the halls a little, too. I tried to stay out of the cafeteria where the movie was playing because I can't keep myself from looking at the screen and have no desire to risk a migraine by watching a movie on a large screen.

Cordelia played three rounds of golf, including one with Scott. She spent a lot of time watching the movie. I did spend some time talking to other parents, those few I know. Usually, Cordelia's gym teacher (easily the most popular teacher in the school) attends things like this and provides some supervision, but he broke his leg over spring break and isn't getting around so well. (This is a blow to Scott who was counting on him to help with the soccer team. Scott expected to learn a lot from him.)
