At camp on Wednesday, Cordelia's group went to the farmer's market and bought fruit. Then they made jam. Cordelia brought home a jar of raspberry jam. We haven't tried it yet.

Wednesday evening, we had [livejournal.com profile] cherydactyl and her family over for dinner. Scott grilled turkey burgers, cheddar brautwurst burgers, turkey hotdogs and a couple of kinds of sausage. There was far more than we could eat. After dinner there was game playing, including an epic game of Apples to Apples Disney (Cordelia likes to keep playing until the red cards run out). We didn't get to any of the cooperative games [livejournal.com profile] cherydactyl's family had brought. That's a pity because I would like to see if that gets around my phobic reaction.

On the 4th, we decided to risk having the cleaning lady come without us there. The buses weren't running, so she wouldn't have had a way to get to our house. I left a note and a check for her, just in case she managed to get there and had her key. The check and note were still there, untouched, when we got home (and no cleaning had been done), so I'm assuming she took the day off.

We went up to Scott's parents' place in the early afternoon. Their wireless was working considerably better than I expected, based on previous experience. I stayed there while Scott and Cordelia joined everybody else who was already out on the boat. I finished reading a book and watched part of a DVD. I didn't do any writing even though I meant to.

We had dinner. There was a game of Apples to Apples that I didn't participate in. I felt a bit burned out on the game after the long game of the night before.

At about nine, we packed up to go to the fireworks. As usual, we watched from a Target parking lot. We went into the store before the show started to get pants for Scott and Cordelia. I ended up buying some candy and cookies. That I mostly intended to have at home. Depending on Scott and Cordelia, what I bought might last weeks.

Usually, the parking lot lights go off right before the show starts. This time, they went off then came right back on. We had lights through 90% of the show. I'm afraid I didn't enjoy things as much as Scott and Cordelia did. I don't care much about fireworks, and I hate using bug spray (just not as much as I hate getting munched on by bugs).

It was almost midnight when we got home. I had to make Cordelia a lunch before I could head for bed. Scott had to make his own lunch, too. It was about 12:30 by the time we were all in bed.

I managed to drag myself through the morning to get Cordelia to camp. Once I'd done that, I lay down to nap. I was pretty tired because the coffee I'd had earlier made no difference whatsoever. I woke up about 11:30 and got myself lunch.

Today at camp, Cordelia tie-dyed another shirt. They have each kid do one every week of camp. Unfortunately, they use cheap dyes, so the colors don't hold through washing. The shirts inevitably end up faded and dingy looking (I'm not dedicated enough to hand wash a cotton t-shirt). Cordelia's willing to wear the shirts while the color's still bright, but after that, they're consigned to the bottom of her shirt drawer. It's a pity because they're good quality shirts.

Scott has to go to work at 3 a.m. tomorrow. He thinks he'll be there until 11:00, but it might be longer. Cordelia wants to do something unusual and exciting this weekend. I think she'll end up disappointed. I can't think of anything we could do in that direction, not with the things that have to be done.
