Yesterday at camp, Cordelia made butter. She brought some home with her, and all three of us had some on our baked potatoes. They were supposed to learn how to build a fire, but the folks running the camp decided against that because of the weather (it was chilly early in the day but made it into the 70s by the time I picked Cordelia up from camp). Cordelia made a bunch of those yarn and popsicle stick things that we called God's eyes when I made them in elementary school (Cordelia calls them something else. I forget what exactly). Two of those are nice enough that we'll probably keep them around to put on our Christmas tree next December.

This morning, I fasted so that I could do the necessary blood tests that go along with taking Geodon. I wasn't particularly hungry, but I really missed my morning cup of coffee. My appointment wasn't until 10 a.m., so I had a while to wait once I got to campus (I got a ride in with [livejournal.com profile] cherydactyl's husband, so I arrived on campus with more than a hour to wait. I forgot to pick up the book I'd intended to read, too, so I spent the time reading magazines in the waiting room).

There was also a long wait, once I'd seen the doctor, before the lab people were ready to do the blood draw. The clinician doing that was very unhappy with my veins. I probably should have had more water before going in. The tests I'm having done include thyroid levels, cholesterol, blood sugar, lipids, and liver function. I had a brief moment of thinking I wouldn't be able to have the tests done-- My doctor's access to the computer system was down (apparently, it was some sort of server problem that affected some parts of UHS and not others). She had to resort to a paper order for the tests. She also couldn't deal with the prescription refill I asked for (stuff for athlete's foot. She must have access again now because I got a call from the pharmacy saying that it's ready for pick up).

Once I was done at UHS, I wanted to get lunch. It was only 11:00, though, and Totoro didn't open until 11:30. Rather than wander around for half an hour, I decided to get some coffee at Espresso Royale. I got a mocha mint coffee. I couldn't taste the mint, though, and the whole thing was a lot more bitter than I'm used to (I use instant coffee, one of those flavored blends with sugar and milk already mixed in). The sugar I added didn't all dissolve, even though I mixed it for quite a while. There was sugar sludge at the bottom of the cup.

I had lunch at Totoro. Since Scott wasn't with me, I had the beef teriyaki bento (Scott's severely allergic to beef). When I finished up, I had just enough time to walk downtown to the bus station to catch the bus home. I thought about stopping at the library to pick up the hold waiting there, but the timing was too tight. I'd have had to wait around for half an hour for the next bus. I can get the hold on Sunday when we normally go.

I'm trying to reach our cleaning lady to find out if she's coming tomorrow or not. I forgot to ask her last week, and I need to know. There's no bus service, so I suspect she'll be staying home, but I don't know. She might find some way to get here otherwise, and I need to know so that I know if I need to be here to let her in. She has a key, but I don't know if she carries it when she's expecting me to be home. We've got an invitation to spend the day and evening with Scott's family, and Scott would like to leave well before the cleaning lady usually arrives. I'm kind of iffy on going. They'll all be going out on the boat, and I don't do that (phobia of water where I can't see the bottom). That means I'll be sitting at Scott's parents' house alone for hours with no internet. I'm also not sure I want to go to the fireworks when that means not getting to bed until extra late. I have to get up early on Friday to get Cordelia to camp. Scott thinks he and Cordelia can get by with less sleep for one night.
