Scott got home just before ten last night. Cordelia had fiddled around in getting ready for bed so that she was still up. I didn't push too hard on that because I knew she missed her father, not having seen him all day.

Scott and his sister did get to see their father before they left. Scott's sister said that he looked better than she expected. Apparently, our sister-in-law, the surgeon, was very pleased by Scott's father's post operative numbers and appearance. She said (according to Scott) that everything was exactly where she wanted to see it. The surgeon who did the actual surgery was reportedly very pleased with the whole thing.

For some reason, Scott couldn't get through yesterday when he tried to call my cell phone. My phone was on and working properly as far as I can tell, but he couldn't get through at all. He had to call our landline in order to reach me. We'll see if the problem persists today. My cell phone would be more or less useless if Scott can't call it.

I made pasta and ground turkey with Alfredo sauce for dinner last night. There should be enough of that left to get Cordelia through tonight and tomorrow (we have things going on both evenings, so I don't want to try to cook). Scott and I have other leftovers, things Cordelia won't eat.

I need to ask Cordelia what she did with the library book I checked out on Sunday. She pulled it out of the bag to look at it in the car and seems not to have put it back. I don't know if it's still in the car or if it made its way into the house. It's another one of those early reader chapter books in Spanish. I don't need it yet. I'm going very slowly through the one I'm currently working on and don't expect to finish it for a few days yet. (I really, really need to find that dictionary. Cordelia says it's still in her room, but I can't find it in there. I need to corner her and make her search for it. That way, it's not just me rummaging through her stuff.)

I'm currently trying to decide what to do with my morning. I want to write, but I have a headache, and a nap may be the wiser course. I've taken Tylenol and had my morning coffee. Neither has made the headache depart, so I don't know.

I napped away the morning, but I still have the headache. I'm throwing more caffeine at it, and when I have lunch, I'll take some naproxen. It seems like a waste-- If I'm going to be stuck with the headache anyway, I'd rather have stayed up and written.

They just posted the list of staff for Cordelia's school for the fall. There's not one single returning teacher. Cordelia's quite upset by that. They hired two teachers for each grade level. I suppose they'll hire more if more families confirm that they want to attend. Or maybe they won't. Maybe those who haven't confirmed yet are simply out of luck.

Both sixth grade teachers are women. I shall have to google them to see if I can find out anything about them. The new principal said that she expected most staff members to have websites, so I'll look for those. I really hope Cordelia likes whoever she gets assigned as a teacher. She's fairly easy to please that way. I don't think she's disliked any teachers so far, but she's more inclined to be displeased by the new program because she sees it as something we're forcing on her.

They've also scheduled a gathering on June 7th for families and staff to meet each other. I'm not clear on what will be involved there. The only place that can really hold that many people is the playground, so I'm assuming this will be out of doors. I hope they don't simply have people milling about. It would be nice if they set something up, separately, for each grade level. It's the sixth grade families we, for example, want to meet. Not that the kindergarten families aren't likely to be perfectly nice, but there's less point in getting to know them immediately.

I googled the two sixth grade teachers. I didn't turn up websites, but I also didn't search beyond the first screen for either. They're both on LinkedIn. One currently teaches sixth grade math in Ypsilanti. The other currently teaches at one of the local high schools. I'm not sure what subject.

Scott researched the new media specialist (I'm going to miss the old one. I like her a lot). She has a long history of working with technology. From what Scott found, it sounds like she might even be overqualified. The old media specialist never stood a chance.
