The PTO was doing a fundraiser last night, so we ate carryout from the California Pizza Kitchen. The process was a little bit frustrating because the online menu didn't provide prices. I also couldn't easily tell which pizzas had tomato sauce and which didn't-- There were pictures of most dishes on the menu but no descriptions beyond the name. I had the smashed pea with barley soup and a wild mushroom pizza (I'd gotten both before, so I knew they should be safe). Scott got an Hawaiian barbecue pizza. Cordelia got creamy garlic fettuccine.

We also cooked chicken last night because I'd forgotten about the fund raiser and had put the chicken in to brine. We didn't want to let it sit another twenty four hours. I rubbed some pureed garlic and some bacon grease on the chicken before I cooked it. I have no idea if that will have done anything, but it seemed reasonable to attempt. Cordelia's been complaining that our chicken is too much the same each time at the same time as she rejects every attempt to flavor it as 'too spicy' or 'yucky.'

As of bedtime last night, Cordelia only had one hundred pages left in her read of Catching Fire. She has Mockingjay, too, so she'll likely go straight on to that. She hasn't expressed interest in the movies yet, but I expect that's coming. I don't expect I'll watch them with her. She wants more books like Divergent and The Hunger Games, but she's not willing to browse at the library or to accept recommendations from anyone but her friends. I got her to sign up for GoodReads, but she says all of that site's recommendations are bad (not that she's tried a single one).

I'm not sure that this sleeping in thing is going to work. Cordelia loves having the time to herself, but I'm mostly awake from the time her alarm goes off to when she leaves the house (and this morning, she came into my room for a goodbye hug. I didn't expect that because she never wants a hug before school). I drift a little, but I don't fully sleep. I did dream a little bit between when Cordelia left and when my phone rang a bit after 9:00, but I remained aware that I was in bed and dreaming, so I don't think I was fully asleep.

I do have to get up with Cordelia tomorrow and Thursday. Tomorrow morning, I've got a dental appointment, and I need to shower. My hair won't be dry by the time I head out, but it will be dryer if I shower at 7:00 than if I shower at 8:00 or 9:00. Thursday, I have to be at the school at 8:00, so getting up at 7:00 is the only way to go. Cordelia has tried to talk me out of both the dental appointment and the volunteering at the school.

Scott and I are still watching The Librarians. We don't take it dreadfully seriously, but we have fun with it. I do wonder what they're doing with the Arthurian threads-- One of Sunday's episodes revealed to the audience just who Jenkins once was (at least it did once I went to Wikipedia and looked up what the villain of the week called him-- Galeas, for the record).

We're also watching Agent Carter. I don't have much to say about that yet except that a lot of the characters kind of blurred together for me. I could identify Peggy and Jarvis, but I couldn't keep track of pretty much anybody else. Some of that may have been that I wasn't paying close enough attention, but some of that was that there were an awful lot of white guys that didn't, from my point of view, have much in the way of distinguishing characteristics. I suspect that some of it is that I'm not dreadfully invested in the show. I like the idea of it, but I've only watched parts of the first Captain America movie, so I don't really know anything about Peggy Carter or have any feelings about her. I'm pretty eh on the Marvel Cinematic Universe in general (Scott loves it), and I don't have much background in the comics, either. I do really like the idea of Agent Carter, and I plan to watch it just based on that. I want to see more shows that focus on female characters.

I did better with Body Electric today than I did yesterday, but I still didn't do really well. It's been over an hour since it ended, and I'm still shaking.

Cordelia said yesterday that she wanted to start doing yoga regularly because I've been pressing her to exercise. It's not aerobic exercise, but I think it would be good for her. Yesterday, she used a set of cards called Yoga Pretzels that [livejournal.com profile] cherydactyl gave us several years ago, but I'd like to get her a book to go along with it. The two yoga books I own are inappropriate, one because it's meant for people with mobility issues and the other because a number of the demonstrated postures are potentially damaging (she also might reject that book because it's quite old. She doesn't like old books, just on general principle).

Of course, today, she's saying she doesn't want to do yoga after all. The only option for exercise that she likes is getting a new version of Just Dance and forcing me to vacate the living room while she plays it. I'd rather she do yoga (or better yet both!). I'm not sure how much actually exercise she'd get doing Just Dance as she tends to ignore the footwork and just do the arm motions.

It's time to make the decision about whether or not Cordelia's signing up for spring soccer. She's said she doesn't want to, but I need to check to be certain now that the decision point has actually arrived. I wonder if she'll want to play softball or if all sports are going by the wayside. I think she'll still play volleyball, but she may not play anything else. We also have to push her on the question of playing volleyball on her school team. We're not buying her reasons for saying she doesn't want to play. I feel like maybe we have to respect her decision, but Scott feels strongly that we ought to try to make her play-- She's actually good at volleyball and loves playing. We're not sure why she's so down on the school team. It doesn't make sense that she wouldn't leap at a chance to do something she loves.

I've been poking at Kickstarter this evening, and I found a project that I hope funds-- It's raising money for an artist named Carole Alden who's been in prison for killing her abusive husband. I really like her art. The Kickstarter is here if you're at all curious. There are still forty three days to go, and the project has only raised about $300 of its $1200 goal.

I'm going for the $15 level for a print of "Dragon and Girl." I was really torn about which of the three prints to pick, but Scott preferred the one with the dragon. As he would have to look at it, too, once it was on the wall, I decided to go with his preference.
