Cordelia did, in fact, want me to get up with her, so I'm up about two hours before I normally would be. I have no idea what she wants me for. I've done nothing but sit here and drink coffee. Well, I did read off the list of things she's supposed to take with her, but I wasn't actually needed for that. She could have picked up the list herself.

The verdict from the school is that the seventh graders will not have recess. The principal acknowledges that it might very well be good for them but says that there's no way to make it work because of the minimum amount of instructional time required each day. For students K-6, twenty minutes a day of recess counts as instructional time. After sixth grade, it's time that has to be made up somehow, and there's no way to have the seventh graders start twenty minutes early or stay twenty minutes late, not with some kids coming in on school buses and others needing to arrive/leave at the same time as younger siblings.

I completely forgot about the informational meeting that took place at the school yesterday. I meant to go because Cordelia really wanted me to and because there was the chance that they'd give us some actual useful information. I only remembered the meeting about an hour after it ended even though people on the sixth grade parents mailing list had been talking about it all day. There was someone who promised to write up the meeting and post it to the list, so I'm hopeful that she'll actually do that.

My goal for today is five hundred words on my remix. I'm pretty sure I can do that. I've got hours and hours today. Right now, I'm looking at twelve hours before my next firm obligation. I should do the dishes and put away laundry somewhere in there, but neither chore is likely to take more than about ten minutes.

My bad ankle is still hurting from the time I spent without the brace on Monday. Oddly, it hurts more at night than during the day. It's not enough to keep me awake, but it is noticeable. On the bright side, I do seem to be over my cold. That didn't last long at all.

I'm getting a bit tired of bananas for breakfast every day, but I don't have any good ideas for something better. For a long time, I just didn't eat breakfast, but I've gotten into the habit now, and I think I'm better off for it. I suppose I could go to eating apples instead. They keep pretty well. It's just that Scott is bad at selecting apples. I think he grabs the first ones that come to hand-- He tends to overlook obvious bruises and such. Apples are also risky, at this time of year particularly, because one never knows until one cuts into an apple if it's bad on the inside.
