Lying down for about an hour yesterday got rid of the rest of the pain, but I ended up with migraine hangover for most of the day. That meant that I didn’t manage to do much beyond the barest necessities. I showered, and I managed to keep me and Cordelia fed.

Scott was late getting home because he needed to replace a tire on the car. From what he says, he had to visit three or four places in order to find what he needed. He was scheduled to go in early this morning, so he had to go to bed early. Around midnight, Cordelia called me to turn on the ceiling fan. Scott got up at 2:00. He went to work and then came home immediately because they didn’t need him and hadn’t told him. Some time in there, Cordelia called me to turn off the fan. Scott’s alarm went again at 5:00. He snoozed until 5:09 and then was up for about fifteen minutes before coming back to bed until his next alarm at 6:00. Somewhere in there, Cordelia called me because she was cold and needed more blankets. I had a headache, so I took an Amerge and hoped. At 6:38, my phone buzzed because one of my apps had glitched (unfortunately, it’s one Scott is very, very fond of, so I can’t just delete it). My actual alarm went off at 7:00.

I still have echoes of my headache. I have no idea if it’s going to get better or worse as the day goes on. Ideally, I’d nap, but Cordelia’s friends are coming today. They’ll be here any minute now and will stay all day.

I’m cranky with myself for not calling Cordelia’s orthopedist yesterday. The way the clinic works, each doctor is only in for one day a week and spends the rest of their time at other clinics. That means that we’re extremely unlikely to hear anything at all until next Monday when Cordelia’s doctor returns to the clinic where he saw her last week. I can’t even email him a question because I haven’t gotten Cordelia set up on the patient portal yet. I sent in an application for that last week. They said it would take three or four business days, but it’s been longer than that. (My impression is that children between 12 and 18 are a special category in as much as the UMHS is only willing to release some information about them to their parents/guardians without the patient’s explicit permission.)

I’m assuming that, if there was some problem that showed up on the MRI, they’d have called us yesterday, but who knows? I hate to assume competence and be wrong.

I need to gather and take out the trash and the recycling today, and I need to do a load of laundry for Cordelia. Beyond that, I had a library book due on Sunday that can’t be renewed, and I really, really want to write something. Not having written yesterday puts me well behind where I want to be for Camp NaNo.

Good news from orthopedics— Cordelia’s MRI looks good with nothing unexpected.

We’re now trying to work out the logistics of physical therapy. The nurse said that will likely be twice a week, and she was surprised that we hadn’t already started. She’s having me talk to their social worker in an effort to figure out how not to spend a fortune on cabs getting to and from appointments. (The social worker was very disappointed that Cordelia’s not covered by Medicaid since that would probably cover travel costs.)

There is one location that we could get to using the A-Ride, and that would be about $6 each way, but they pack people into those cabs, and Cordelia needs the whole back seat right now. Also, timing for the A-Ride is very, very iffy, iffier than for regular cabs. One of the other possible locations is on the #1 bus route, but I really don’t want to try to deal with the bus with Cordelia on crutches and me very low stamina.

I’ve asked a couple of friends if they can help. I’m waiting to hear on their schedules before I call the social worker back to see what we can work out.
