I lay down for a couple of hours yesterday afternoon, so Scott did the library run on his own. After he got back, we all went out shoe shopping for Cordelia. DSW was a bust. The cheapest shoes we could find in her size were still $46 once all of the discounts were applied. Cordelia had fun trying on some dress shoes, though. We ended up buying gym shoes at Target for about $35.

From there, we went to Blue Nile, an Ethiopian restaurant downtown, for dinner. It’s a communal plate meal with refills on various dishes included in the price. As usual, we got the vegetarian version. The version with meat has three types of meat only one of which we eat (and one of which we can’t have on the table at all because it’s beef). That doesn’t seem worthwhile when we enjoy the vegetable dishes and can make a meal out of those.

We walked to a nearby bookstore, and Cordelia bought a book. She really wanted one, but she hates the idea of buying something that turns out not to be spectacularly good, so she dithered for a while. I didn’t see what she ended up getting, but hopefully, she’ll enjoy it.

We drove out to Orange Leaf after that for frozen yogurt.

I sent in my snippets for the WIP Big Bang. I worry a lot that I won’t manage to finish by the deadline, but I think I need to try. I also think I forgot to include a summary/blurb with the snippets. Oops. I’ll check on that after Cordelia’s orthopedics appointment. If I did forget, I’ll see about sending a supplementary email to the mods.

My other must do things for today are washing the sheets and running the dishwasher. I’d definitely like to accomplish more than that, but if I’m too tired, I’m too tired. I think I can get through the essentials, though.

The orthopedist says that Cordelia is still banned from gym class. Basically, he doesn’t want her doing sports type things with other kids because he thinks that increases the risk of re-injury too much. He wants her to run and walk as much as possible. He just doesn’t want it to be in a class or team sport context. He thinks her kneecap is still looser than it ought to be.

We got to Mott before 8:30, and we were done with the doctor by 9:00 which was when our appointment was supposed to start. Cordelia and I sat in the lobby, reading, while we waited for [livejournal.com profile] evalerie to be able to drive us home.

I’m trying to decide whether or not we should return the gym shoes we bought yesterday. They’re actually the same size as Cordelia’s current shoes (which actually do seem to still fit fine). If she doesn’t grow, they’d be good replacements, but we really don’t know if she’s going to grow or not. I suppose I should look at her current shoes and estimate how much longer they’ll last. I suppose, too, that I could try them on. I wear that size. But what would I do with another pair of shoes? I already have five pairs plus a pair of boots. That’s a lot of shoes given that I wear the same shoes pretty much every day.

I took back three Ingress portals near the school on my way home after dropping Cordelia off. I also captured the four portals I could reach from the orthopedist’s office. If I feel really good later today, I might try walking out toward Arrowwood to take back those portals, but it’s a long walk, and I’m still feeling kind of rotten (only getting about six hours of sleep last night probably had an impact in that direction).

Hm. Lunch then nap or nap then lunch?
