The orthopedist says that Cordelia is still banned from gym class. Basically, he doesn’t want her doing sports type things with other kids because he thinks that increases the risk of re-injury too much. He wants her to run and walk as much as possible. He just doesn’t want it to be in a class or team sport context. He thinks her kneecap is still looser than it ought to be.
We got to Mott before 8:30, and we were done with the doctor by 9:00 which was when our appointment was supposed to start. Cordelia and I sat in the lobby, reading, while we waited for
evalerie to be able to drive us home.
I’m trying to decide whether or not we should return the gym shoes we bought yesterday. They’re actually the same size as Cordelia’s current shoes (which actually do seem to still fit fine). If she doesn’t grow, they’d be good replacements, but we really don’t know if she’s going to grow or not. I suppose I should look at her current shoes and estimate how much longer they’ll last. I suppose, too, that I could try them on. I wear that size. But what would I do with another pair of shoes? I already have five pairs plus a pair of boots. That’s a lot of shoes given that I wear the same shoes pretty much every day.
I took back three Ingress portals near the school on my way home after dropping Cordelia off. I also captured the four portals I could reach from the orthopedist’s office. If I feel really good later today, I might try walking out toward Arrowwood to take back those portals, but it’s a long walk, and I’m still feeling kind of rotten (only getting about six hours of sleep last night probably had an impact in that direction).
Hm. Lunch then nap or nap then lunch?

Date: 2016-05-16 08:19 pm (UTC)In practice, people from both factions interact with each other in a reasonably civilized way and sometimes do projects to make pretty patterns with portals and links. I'm sure there are people who get obnoxious about it in the way that people can get obnoxious about, say, dedication to a particular sports team.
My guess is that the folks running this will draw it out as long as they possibly can. It's a business (I'm not actually sure how the model works. I know that it's possible to buy stuff for use in the game, but I only have the vaguest idea of how that works or what might be available. That tells me they're not pushing very hard to sell stuff to participants because I've been playing, casually, for months.)
The folks running the game are, from what I gather, about to (or already have?) open up a similar game that's connected with Pokemon and affiliated with the company that owns that. It's possible that they'll end up putting more resources into that because, I suspect, it will be more profitable.
