Jun. 18th, 2016 04:17 pmScott has this weekend off but expects to be working one or both days next weekend. He says that next weekend will be bad because of the 4th coming up.
I was planning to do my thyroid blood tests (not fasting) on July 5th, but my doctor added a fasting blood sugar test to it, and I think I don't want to do that on the 5th. We'll spend the afternoon and evening of the 4th with Scott's parents and his sister and her family, and I'm going to want to munch on something during the fireworks so that I can stay awake. I can do the tests on the 6th. I don't think one day is going to make a difference.
Scott has taken the cable equipment in. My impression is that they didn't give him a hard time. He also found out the Medequip, the local company that handles his bi-PAP, is open on Saturday. He got a prescription for some bi-PAP equipment in February or March, and Medequip was supposed to call him when it was ready. They never did because they're terminally disorganized. But, when he showed up there today, they happily gave him everything he was supposed to have.
Scott and Cordelia did the library run today because Cordelia simply had to have her holds as soon as possible. I have some holds that will probably come in tomorrow, so we'll have to go down there again. One of them is something I was hoping would take another week or two to arrive-- Scott now has two huge book on CD sets to deal with (one with 25 CDs and one with 17 CDs). I know which one he'll prefer, so maybe I should just send the other one back and put it back on the list of things we want eventually.
Scott's out doing the grocery shopping right now. I've got a list of other things that he needs to get done. A couple of them involve showing me things that need doing a couple of times a week that I could do if I knew the ins and outs. Scott doesn't feel that either task needs explanation, but I don't have the confidence to take them on without him showing me first. I suspect that I'll have better luck with these tasks than with things like changing the filter on the humidifier. That last needs doing once a year, so I don't get practice. We're hoping to get through the to do list so that he can relax tomorrow. It's a little weird to be at home for Father's Day. I'm not sure we've done that in the entire time we've been married.
Scott's parents are in Indiana for the 50th anniversary of some old friends. We'll have to talk to them later to figure out how to get Cordelia and the remaining yard sale stuff to their place. I don't see how we can manage getting her up there on Wednesday. Well, we can, but it's an hour each way, and I don't see us being able to leave before 5:30 which means traffic would be horrible enough that waiting a little longer to leave might actually save some time. If they come down to get her, they can do it in the middle of the day when traffic's not terrible. They should have space enough for the yard sale stuff, too, and none of it is heavy enough that I'd worry about them with it. (If I can lift it, Scott's father should be safe lifting it, too.)
I'm thinking that I'll get rid of the electric blanket. I haven't been cold enough to use it since I started the tamoxifen, and I'm not really interested in storing it for the next five years just in case I need something like it again after I stop the medication. We're really low on storage space, so it's been on the floor in our bedroom for the last several months, and we've been walking on it several times a day. So, I'm going to pull it out and test it for safety and for still working.
My ankle still isn't feeling quite right. I can walk all right, but it twinges and aches enough that I'm constantly aware of it. It feels like I need to apply heat. I just can't think of a reasonable way to do that that won't overheat other parts of me. We have a heating pad, but it's kind of large. We have a small rice pack, but I'd have to hold it in place. I've got a hot water bottle, but it has the same problems as the rice pack and is bigger.
