Cordelia has finished school for the year. Now she's gone off with four friends for frozen yogurt (if the place isn't too crowded. It's about four blocks from the big local middle school) and movie watching. They took Return of the Jedi (two of the girls haven't ever seen it) and The Wizard of Oz. They wanted Zootopia rather than The Wizard of Oz, but we couldn't find that.

I just got an email with a header demanding that "Donald Trump reveal their tax records." The pronoun choice puzzles me. I'm pretty sure that Trump prefers he/his, and while I think he's an asshole, I'd still use those pronouns.

I had reflux issues last night, starting right after dinner. That's extremely unusual, and I really wasn't sure what to do. I ate a baked potato for dinner, and I've never had trouble with that before. I think it might just be that yesterday was really strange food-wise. I wasn't hungry and had to make myself eat. By the end of the day, I'd had a piece of chocolate cake (which took me about eight hours to finish), a bag of microwave popcorn, 3/4 of a banana, and a baked potato with margarine and a small amount of shredded cheese. I'm not doing much better in that direction today, unfortunately.

During my walk on Wednesday, I ran into a critter at the science and nature center, and I've been trying to figure out what it was. I thought, at first, that it might be an adolescent (and rather skinny) woodchuck, but I'm not sure because, when I walked past (giving it as much space as I could. There was a bushy tree on my side and a chicken wire fence behind it) at about six feet away, it kind of snarled and started to rush me but froze when I snarled back.

It was gray brown. It had white around the muzzle but was otherwise uniformly colored. It was about the length of a house cat and a bit heftier than a very fat house cat. It might have been a woodchuck, and I simply made it feel more threatened than I was hoping to. I waited before crossing near it, and we kind of stared at each other. I was hoping it would take off in a direction where I wasn't, but it stayed more or less frozen.

I haven't managed to find any pictures of adolescent North American badgers, but the adults have different markings than this one did though the fur color was right. (Searching "michigan badgers" or "united states badgers" has to include a "-sports" or it's all college sports links and images.) I don't think the soil is right in the nature center for badgers, but who knows? I wouldn't think that there'd be a lot of options locally.

But I know we have woodchucks, so it probably was one. A woodchuck around the fence of a community garden seems more likely than a badger.

My ankle is still twinging a bit. I don't think it's really injured, just not quite entirely right. I mostly stayed off it yesterday except for a brief walk down to the church to hack the portal there.

I need to spend some time looking in the dining room to see if I can find the most recent bank statement for Cordelia's savings account. I have to fill out some forms for Social Security, and I need to know the balance on her account on the last business day of May.

I got down to fifteen items in my email inbox yesterday, but I'm back up to nineteen now. I'm still hoping that I can make a bigger dent later today, but I might nap first. I don't know yet.
