Well, I know what I'm getting for Christmas from my in-laws. My mother-in-law asked me to take a look at a website and tell her which of the dresses I liked. I picked out four or five that wouldn't be awful, assuming they fit right (no guarantee). She thought the stuff they had was my style, but there were a lot of empire waists and such. Those don't look good on me, not in the least. My bust is too big. I prefer dresses with an elastic waist. I have to pay someone to make them specially for me. They're not cheap.

The sizing is questionable, too. I wear 1X in terms of most catalogs, but my bathing suit and the dress I bought this summer are 22s which translates to a 2X. The dress my mother-in-law liked had a note saying to buy a size up if one intends to wear a shirt under it (which I do. It's a jumper, and I don't wear dresses in the summer if I can avoid it). I told her to stick with the 2X, but I'm not sure that's right. This website also doesn't carry petites. I'm 5'2", so I have issues with full size clothing being too long. I like my dresses down to mid-calf, though, so I'm hoping this will be okay. My mother-in-law offered to hem the dratted thing if it comes to that, but I'm hoping it won't.

I have no idea what Scott's going to get me. I need to remind him about my Amazon wishlist. I think he's forgotten about that, and I've been adding to it for months. There might be something on there, too, that Cordelia would like to give me. Then again, they might get creative and come up with things I've never thought of. The Amazon list is stuff that would be kind of nice to have, nothing that I care a lot about.

Nobody on my side of the family buys me presents. They just don't. I count myself lucky if they think to get something for Cordelia. We send presents to everyone-- Scott makes calendars using photographs of Cordelia and my sister's son and sends them to everybody. He even makes a special one for my grandmother that's got just one picture a month so that she can see it at all. (He also makes them for his side of the family, including his sister's in-laws. He just uses different photographs for those.)

I have the same problem with plus size "petite" clothing. It ticks me off to have to pay as much as 10 dollars more for a pair of jeans because there is what, an extra four inches of cloth in the seat of the pants? and they are marked "petite" and I still have six inches of extra fabric on the bottoms I have to roll up or get hemmed or some damn thing. I ought to be able to send that fabric in for my 10 dollars back :D

I keep looking at the clothing in our local walmart and then looking at the people walking around me and don't understand why only 1/5 of the clothing selection is for so called plus size (I remember when plus size started at size 20, NOT 14, damned clothing industry) and wonder where are the people buying these clothes other than maybe some 12 year olds? Most of the people I see they clothing would not fit, or it is so trampy people wouldn't be caught dead in it. "family" store. Somehow sweatpants with "juicy" written across the ass in the pre teen department does not strike me as "family" oriented.
