Sixteen years ago today, Scott and I stood up in Scott's parents' church and got married. I still think it's one of the best decisions I ever made-- the getting married not the church wedding, I mean. I think I'd choose differently now and go for a civil ceremony. (Cordelia is a close second, but because she's a monkey child, there are still occasions when I wonder why I wanted a child instead of, say, a pet rock.)

Some of you were there that day. Most of you, however, I hadn't met yet. My mind was only partly there that day. I found the entire process of getting married irritating. I wanted to be married and was focused on everything after that day.

Scott and I went out to dinner at Red Lobster on Wednesday while Cordelia was with Scott's parents. We went out for dessert yesterday with Cordelia (we were too full on Wednesday for dessert, so spacing it out made sense). Tonight, we'll have dinner at home and probably skip dessert. We may pull out wedding pictures and tell Cordelia stories about the people in them. I don't know.

Sixteen years. For better or for worse, in sickness and in health. We both still think we're lucky to have each other.

Congratulations! So many people don't make it half that far--I'm glad you both are still there to support each other. *hugs*
