the_rckThe roads were really dreadful today. The cab that took us to Cordelia's appointment was sliding all over the place. It had to drop two people off before taking us to the appointment, so we were about ten minutes late getting there. Fortunately, the social worker was also running late. She called me to tell us she'd be late about thirty seconds after I got off the phone from telling her receptionist that we'd be late.
There was no sign that the snow plows had been out. Even the busy streets were still inches deep in snow. The cabbies both told us that it's too cold for salt to help. The cabbie on the trip out told us that the highways are worse than the city streets. He said they were sheets of ice. Scott's going to see how things are on his drive home, and we'll figure out whether or not we're going to risk heading north tonight.
The idea is for me and Cordelia to spend the night at Scott's sister's place, but that may not be feasible tonight. Cordelia and I are mostly packed, and I hope we can go. I've psyched myself up for the business, and I'm not sure I can easily do it again. Plus, we don't know which day (if any) Scott will have off this weekend. I want to be home if he's not working (and not just because I'm hoping to get to the library and have bubble tea).
