According to the National Weather Service website, the dangerous cold will persist through seven a.m. tomorrow. That's late enough to affect kids taking the bus to school. I wonder if they'll cancel school again. I don't much want another day of Cordelia sitting at home, watching tv and complaining that she doesn't like any of the food in the house, but I don't want kids getting frostbite while waiting for the bus, either.
Cordelia's teacher just e-mailed all the parents. Next week, on Tuesday, the class will be doing a winter survival field trip. This field trip is a tradition with the fifth graders at Cordelia's school. They'll go even if it's as cold as -10 F. They'll be out from 9:30-2:30 and will cook their own lunch. I'm going to have to try to find a hat Cordelia's willing to wear. She'll need one. Warmer socks would be good, too.
