Jan. 12th, 2014 07:10 pmCordelia has been kind of cranky today because we've been boring. She would have liked to be doing something, anything, else. It's not that Scott and I haven't done anything. It's that none of what we did was interesting to Cordelia. She was actively opposed to us taking down the tree.
Scott and I took down the tree with no help from Cordelia. There were several new ornaments that we had to find storage places for, and there were a few sets that have to be put away just so because they don't fit into their boxes unless they're all in the right place. I am wondering if we should give away the Sesame Street ornaments. They don't mean anything to Cordelia any longer, but she also doesn't remember a Christmas without them. I suppose, next year, I can ask her. I expect we can find a family with a small child who would appreciate Sesame Street ornaments.
I made fudge. It hasn't set right. I'm having trouble getting it off of the tinfoil (I lined the pan with that because it's usually easier that way). I suspect that I overcooked the fudge because it edges toward chewy. I'm a little afraid that chilling it longer won't help, that it will never cut cleanly or store with out sticking together. Right now, it's out on the back porch with a cookie sheet over the top to discourage animals.
I meant to make Chex mix. I still might. Scott's using the oven right now, cooking turkey turnovers for dinner, but I could do it after dinner. I only need an hour. Well, it's 7:00. Maybe I'd better wait and do it tomorrow.
We did change our sheets, and the laundry is well on the way to being done. All of Scott's and my clothing is clean and dry. Cordelia's stuff is in the dryer. Our sheets are in the wash. We'll get everything dry by bedtime. If I get really ambitious, I can put away my clothes. That usually doesn't happen until Monday or Tuesday, but there's no reason I couldn't do it now. Well, no reason except habit and inertia.
I'm going to have to make a trip into town to the library this week. I've got two holds that will expire before our next routine visit, and I'd like to pick them up. What I may do is combine it with my Tuesday dental appointment. I can either take the inbound #2 to the bus depot across from the library or I can walk in stages. I think I can make it from the dentist to Totoro (where I can eat lunch), and I know I can get from Totoro to the library if I rest a little bit before I set out. It will mean skipping my normal stop for bubble tea. I usually do that when Cordelia or I have a dental appointment. I just don't want to have another bag to manage.
