I'm trying HabitRPG to see if it can help me with things I want to do. I can already tell that it's going to frustrate me. There's no way to set up a task that I want to do once a week, and I've got a few of those I'd like to get on track with. I wash the clothes on Sunday. There's no reason that, come Thursday, I still haven't put away my laundry. (I'm not worrying about Scott's or Cordelia's clothes getting put away. That's their business.)

There's also no way to do something I'd like to do four days or five days a week. I've got several of those. Sit and Be Fit, for example, only airs Monday-Friday, and I will always miss it on Thursdays. As another example, I'd like to put in some time on the treadmill every day that Cordelia has school. I can only think of two things that I want to do daily.

Meh. I have a HomeRoutines app for my phone that is a little better but creates a new sub-list for each day-pattern, which drives me nuts. So the ones that are "most days" I list as daily, and allow myself to mark them accomplished first thing in the morning of any day where they don't apply. It's silly, but it more or less works for me. No idea if a similar approach would work for you or not.

It doesn't have a rewards system, but if you'd just like an app that tracks chores and to-dos and sends you reminders, I really recommend Wunderlist--www.wunderlist.com. It's really saved my bacon when the freelancing gets crazy!

Would google calendar work for you?
It lets me repeat events and set up email or popup reminders.
If I want to repeat something on a weekly basis it lets me specify which day or days of the week to repeat.

I use a sticky-notes program on my computer. It makes little windows that I put To Do items in. The program I use is called Magic Notes. It's buggy, sometimes annoyingly, but free. You can also set an alarm on a note, so that it will pop up at that time, and you can set it to repeat. For whatever that's worth.

Ah, that's a good point - Google calendar probably isn't the right tool in that case.
I'll have to look at HabitRPG - I do like checklists too.

When you edit the "Dailies" tasks, you have the option of choosing which days of the week you do them. So as long as you do them the same day every week, that may work for you? I was able to set up which days I have a double workout and that's been functioning just fine for me so far.

Add the task, then click the pencil "edit" icon on the task bar, scroll down, and de-select whichever days you don't do the task. Save and close and it should be all set up.

That reminds me, I should add "laundry" and "put away laundry" to my own tasks...mine is still sitting out from doing it, um, last Friday. >_>
