Jan. 17th, 2014 10:39 amI suspect that the Girl Scout leaders are going to be disappointed by the troop's cookie sales. I was at the school this morning so that the girls could hand in their order forms (which are due today), and not one single girl gave me a form. I attend all the meetings, so they should recognize me. I doubt it's that. I did tell the parents that they could drop off the forms here any time today, including in the evening. Maybe parents didn't want to trust their girls carrying the forms.
Because I was there, I helped out a little bit with bagel Friday. Cordelia wanted to work it, so she was pleased to be there. With me, there were three adults and about half a dozen kids working. There's a split among the fifth graders-- There are those who want to work every bagel Friday (Cordelia and two of her friends), those who show up when they're signed up and work, and those who show up but never do any work. This morning, there was a boy who didn't work. His father and younger brother did work, but he just kind of wandered off.
I've got a pork roast in the crock pot with some cream of onion soup. Hopefully, Cordelia won't object to that. She's been refusing to eat the soup we made with the last of the turkey from New Year's Eve, and I'd like to give her something that isn't a hot dog.

Date: 2014-01-17 03:57 pm (UTC)Our troop has thirteen members. Maybe half of them will have sold any cookies at, and I doubt any of them have sold more than thirty boxes. It doesn't help that our cookie sale planning meeting got snowed out. The girls got their forms with no explanation of what they were supposed to do and no goal setting or real support. For the longest time, I couldn't find the price anywhere in the packet. I *think* I've found it now, but I'm not positive. We don't actually have a cookie parent. It's being done by committee with the troop leader as the official parent in charge but her not doing any of the work.

Date: 2014-01-18 03:04 am (UTC)I couldn't find the price for a box of cookies anywhere for the longest time. I finally found it buried in the text of a bit talking about how the money from each box gets divided up.
