It was cold out, but there didn't seem to be much wind. I got to my appointment without too much trouble. The bus was packed. I think I got the last seat. I rode the #2B. For part of our trip, there was a #2A directly in front of us. I have no idea where it came from-- It certainly didn't pass my stop, and I don't know of any other way for it to approach the route.

My psychiatrist is going on maternity leave in April and staying out for two months. To be sure I see her in March, I scheduled for early in the month. I'll have paperwork for her to fill out relating to my eligibility for the A-Ride, and I may have paperwork from the U to reconfirm my disability status (depends on if they're reviewing me every year or every other year). I hope that, if the U does want to review me, they get the paperwork to me early. They always have a short deadline, and I'm not sure they'd be willing to wait until the doctor comes back.

My psychiatrist wants me to experiment with riding different bus lines, particularly the one that goes out to where Cordelia sees the social worker. She thinks that not being dependent on cabs would be a good thing. I didn't point out that, by the time I know the cab's not coming, it's really too late to get the bus. The bus takes longer than the cab, even allowing for the cab being late. I do definitely have to learn to take the bus to Cordelia's middle school, however. I'll do it when the weather's good enough that waiting for the return bus won't be onerous.

The return bus pulled up just as I was approaching the stop, so I didn't have to wait outside for it. That was a relief. Of course, the driver left the door open wide when he walked off to do something. It was open for several minutes. When we got to my stop, in spite of my having rung for it, the driver didn't stop. I had to yell for him to stop and then hike back to the stop. I walked in the street because the pile of snow between the street and the sidewalk was too daunting. Fortunately, there wasn't any traffic.

The really cold weather is supposed to last through Monday. I have doctor's appointments on Friday (eye exam) and Monday (annual). I'll just have to hope that it's warm enough those days that there's school. If there isn't school, I'll have Cordelia, her friend and her friend's younger brother again. With just Cordelia, I might spring for a cab there and back (if it's too cold for school, it's too cold for her to wait for the city bus with me), but with three kids, I don't think I could do that. Not to mention that the younger brother is young enough to require a booster seat which complicates things further.
