We asked Cordelia about whether or not she'd be interested in the new STEAM program at her school. We didn't tell her it was at her school, just that it was some place that we could get her to (Scott thought that knowing it would be at her school would make her say yes for the wrong reasons). She said no based on being bad at art and on the fact that her friends will be at the middle school.
I e-mailed her best friend's mother with a link to the M-Live article about the program, just to see if they might be interested. The other mother was intrigued but, like us, still plans to keep going along with the process for going to middle school while we find out more about this new program. As more information comes out, I will likely try talking to more parents. If some of her friends are doing it, Cordelia might well change her mind.
The more I hear about this program, the more interested I am in getting Cordelia into it, but we don't want to force her. Scott and I are currently thinking to apply (if there's a lot of demand, they'll have a lottery). We figure we can always decide to go with the middle school after all.
