My new boots are less comfortable than my old ones. They are easier to put on and take off, though, and that was the point. I'm only going to wear them for brief trips out. Of course, this morning, the five minutes I was out to walk Cordelia to school was long enough for the boots to pull both of my knee socks off. I'm wearing relatively thin socks instead of the fuzzy, thicker ones I usually wear. The thicker ones only pull a little bit off instead of coming all the way off.

Scott and I spent some time last night looking around for more information on electric blankets. Consumer Reports had nothing. 95% of what we can find for sale is Sunbeam. We couldn't find anything that didn't have some reports that it had stopped working after a short time except for things that had very, very few reviews. I guess I'm going to have to accept that electric blankets have a certain failure rate.

I need to focus in on this Girl Scout training that I'm doing. I'm sure I'm over thinking it, but I can't seem to figure out how to answer the questions on the test. I should probably just make something up that kind of fits and stop worrying about being exactly right. I'm going to spend the morning on fic writing, but I'll spend the afternoon on the Girl Scout stuff.

The writing is going slowly. I'm still not working on chapter 24. Instead, I'm working on a Narnia fic that I started last year. I'm hoping to edge around to giving chapter 24 yet another try. I've had a couple of new ideas shake loose in the last couple of days, and those might help.

Here via network. I have a heated mattress pad from Land's End that I love love love. Just got a heated blanket from them, but can't speak to its longevity. LE has a great return policy and if there is a Sear's store near you with a LE store in it, very easy to make returns.

Eeep. Looks like they don't have it now (anymore?). I think we got ours on sale. Maybe they were discontinuing them? Maybe they are seasonal. The mattress pads are awesome. I love them. I warm up the bed, snuggle and get warm with the mattress pad on for a while then turn it off before I go to sleep. I get too hot otherwise.

There really is a difference in the technology between Biddeford and Sunbeam. Sunbeam uses a coating that wears out after X amount of heat has passed through it. Every Sunbeam I've had kept getting cooler and cooler till it was useless long before its warranty ended -- but they want me to pay shipping to send the cool one back, which isn't worth it.

I've actually had good luck with sunbeams, had one that lasted 7 years and my latest is going on 3 years at this point. The electric through I'm using has been around 2 and gets steady use in winter....I'm not sure it's a sunbeam though....I'm glad I saw this discussion though, when I do go to replace my electric blanket I may look at a biddeford.
