Cordelia's friend's brother has strep throat. He's on antibiotics, so he shouldn't be contagious any more, but it's not sure that his sister doesn't have it. Their mother has decided to keep them home this week so as not to risk passing strep on to our family.

Cordelia is disappointed, but she's not making any effort to improve the situation. We suggested that she try inviting other friends over during the week. She says she can't think of anyone to ask. I suggested a few people, but she kept saying no. She's so sure that they can't come or that it wouldn't be fun or something that's not clear to me.

Scott's pretty certain that Cordelia will take her boredom out on us, and I agree. She won't be willing to do any of the fun things Scott suggested without a friend to go along, but she also won't want to entertain herself. That's a recipe for all three of us to be miserable.

Scott has some chores he needs to take care of and several appointments he has to go to. One of the first chores is repairing the ceiling fixture in our bedroom-- The light currently flashes on and off rapidly if we turn it on. Scott thought it was the bulbs failing, but I was pretty sure it was the wiring. Scott tried replacing all the bulbs to no effect, so wiring it is. He's afraid we'll have to replace the entire fixture, including the ceiling fan, but he won't know until he gets up in there.

Neither Scott nor I wanted to go to the Girl Scout cookout today. I made Scott go so that I could stay home. I feel guilty about that. He's going to be every bit as miserable as I would have been. I'm trying to think of nice things I can do for him, but all I can come up with is making Chex mix. I have made a start on the household chores that need to be done, this being Sunday, but they're all things that I would normally do anyway.
