I just put in an Amazon order for the antiperspirant that that Cordelia and I use. None of the places we've tried around here carry it, and we looked hard. We use Almay's fragrance free roll on. It works, and it doesn't leave that nasty, hard stuff in the underarms of our clothes.

Unfortunately, it's really expensive to buy it through Amazon-- I paid $35 for six bottles. Six bottles should last us a good long while, but I hate paying, in effect, $6 each. If we could get a grocery store or drug store to carry it, we'd probably pay a lot less.

Fortunately, neither of us uses the stuff every day. We both use it right after we get out of the shower and use something else on days when we don't shower. (I can't use the Almay every day. When I do, things start to feel unpleasant. Every third day is enough to be effective and seldom enough not to cause problems.) I'm not sure what I'll recommend to Cordelia if she starts showering more frequently (quite possible as she hits middle school and starts caring a lot about her appearance).

Just think of it as an act of solidarity with folks living overseas. My husband just paid $75 dollars for toothpaste. It is what it is.

Good heavens! I'm sure I'd be stuck that way if I lived overseas. I have to use a very particular toothpaste (plus an extra fluoride gel) or my teeth start to hurt almost immediately.

I'm allergic to normal toothpaste -- something about the polishing bits they use makes me break out in hives. Which is why we spent $75 on toothpaste. It was 5 tubes, but still. It makes me wince. ;)

drugstore.com or a similar site might carry it cheaper...I know lately amazon's prices have just gotten crazy...actually, you might try ebay, I find things I would have never thought I would find there and at good prices.

I did google the stuff. There were places I recognized that had it for less but were currently out of stock. I suppose I could have waited to see if one of them would get it back in stock.

yeah, but sometimes that waiting game can be frustrating, believe me I know. (I like to cook asian food and there is one site I can but ingredients from at good prices, but because they beat just about everyone else on the net out, something in stock is like russian roulette.)

I've been really amazed at what I can find on ebay anymore. Knorr makes garlic and onion bullion cubes, dear god, what amazon wants for them! Most of the time you have to buy them in huge lots, or if it is a single item order the shipping is three times what the product costs. Got two of each on ebay for less than what one box of one of them would have cost me on amazon. Granted, you never quite know what the place is like you are ordering from, but I've had pretty good luck so far.

I may have to look for some of that almay stuff myself, I tend to break out in rashes from most deoderants
