Feb. 22nd, 2014 12:00 pmScott's father is going to have surgery in May at the Cleveland Clinic. The doctors there consider the surgery very low risk, only about 5% risk compared to the 25% risk the local surgeon gave it. I guess the difference is that the Cleveland Clinic specializes and has a lot more expertise.
He'll be having surgery on the 15th, and they'll be staying in Cleveland for at least a week and a half. That means we'll probably have our gathering for the May birthdays in early June. I suppose we could do it in early May instead. I guess we'll see what Scott's parents prefer. Two of the four May birthdays are theirs, after all. (The other two are Cordelia and me.)
I don't know if Scott's parents are going to need help from Scott and/or his sister. They've got more of a chance to plan than they did a couple of years ago, and Cleveland is a lot closer to home than Florida is. Scott's mother can probably drive back from there once Scott's father's had some time to recover.

Date: 2014-02-24 08:02 pm (UTC)The Cleveland Clinic takes up two or three large city blocks.
It's a strange area.
Some sections are safe, while some...not so much.
I'm sure Scott's father will be in good hands.
I hope everything goes smoothly.
