Hurray!

Neither Scott nor I slept well last night. We were constantly expecting a call that didn't come.

That's right-- Cordelia lasted through the night at her aunt's place! I have no idea how well she slept or if she cried about it, but she made it through. Cordelia's getting a cell phone.

Scott and I went out for breakfast this morning. We went to Cafe Marie, a place we can't go with Cordelia because she says there's nothing on the menu she can eat (not actually true). I had coffee and almond cherry pancakes. Scott had hot chocolate and French toast. We shared some bacon and potatoes.

I've got laundry in. We've changed the sheets. The next thing to do is to make the rice dish we're taking to the birthday gathering. I'm hoping the dish will come out well. I've never made it before. It looks straightforward and like it should be tasty, but I don't know for sure.

Oh, how wonderful! Well done, Cordelia!

If she did cry or anything it doesn't matter really, does it? You have an excellent example for her of how, even though it was really hard and upsetting and scary, she did it anyway and the world didn't cave in, and she got a nice reward.

Apparently the whole thing was tear free. She says she wasn't even scared when it came down to it. She's even said that she might be willing to spend the night with Scott's parents (previously, she said that would be too boring).

For Cordelia, I'm puzzled. She loves pancakes, and they have fruit. I'm not sure why Cafe Marie's pancakes are so out of favor.

Does Cafe Marie have good gluten free options? I think Scott's mother has ordered salad both times we took them there, but I can see that getting old really fast.

If I remember right, they can also do omelettes and have a reasonably knowledgeable kitchen. But it's not someplace that we eat often, so I don't know a lot about it.

Has Scott's mother found the app called "Find Me Gluten Free"? (There's a web-based version too, if she doesn't have a smartphone.) It will show you the nearest places to a location that can do gluten-free, plus reviews written by other gluten-free people, and other tags like "chain restaurant" or "kid-friendly" or "vegan-friendly." Super useful!
