The electric blanket [livejournal.com profile] evalerie found for me (from a friend of hers who was moving to a smaller apartment) is a Biddeford. It's sized for a double or a queen bed, so I've got it folded over as Scott doesn't want any of it. I'm only plugging in one side of it, the side I've got folded to be on the bottom. I plug it in and turn it on two or three hours before bedtime and then turn it off and unplug it right before I climb into bed. I need to unplug it because the cord runs right across the space at the foot of the bed. Scott crosses that area three or four times in the dark. The cord would eventually be bound to trip him.

I'd like to keep the blanket on for the first half an hour I'm in bed, long enough for my feet to get warm if they're really cold. Unfortunately, I don't really see that happening easily. There's probably something we could do, but it would take thinking and work. As long as this is mostly working, I'll keep doing it.

I am enjoying having the bed be warm when I climb into it. That's really nice.

I also have a heated mattress pad, but I haven't done anything with that. Our bed is a king, so it wouldn't fit, and I can't unmake and make up the bed without help even if I thought I could fold the dratted thing to fit just under my side of the bed. Anybody local want a heated mattress pad? I'm not sure of the exact size except that it's not a king and not a twin. I haven't looked, but I assume it's also a Biddeford.

Would an extension cord help?

Yay Biddeford!

What about running an extension cord under the bed?
