The school librarian gave me an e-mail address to which I could send my questions about next year's new program at Cordelia's school. I sent about a dozen questions, most specific to the situation for sixth graders. Hopefully, they'll address some of those points during the meeting tomorrow evening. They've already gotten back to me with kind of answers for some questions.

Sixth graders will have gym and music (but I asked about instrumental music not just music. There's a difference). Sixth graders will start and end school at the same time as the younger kids. Those start and end times may not end up being the same as what they are now (though I suspect, due to busing, they will be), but they will be the same for everybody. Sixth graders will still have access to the bus to get to school if they qualify to ride the bus this year. (I asked about busing because Cordelia's best friend rides the bus. If she couldn't take the bus, her parents would definitely send her to the middle school.)

The answer to my question about class size was a non-answer-- "Class size will be the same as class size now across the grades." Given that classes at the school currently run from twenty to thirty kids, that's quite a range. I guess they'll go up to thirty if there's enough interest and have smaller classes if there's less interest.
