Mar. 11th, 2014 08:00 amI managed two of my phone calls yesterday. The others ended up waiting because I was expecting a call back that came kind of late. The eight year old boy spent most of the day on the Wii, too, and fitting in phone calls while the TV was blasting was challenging.
We had a delivery a bit after eleven, a tool chest Scott ordered. The delivery guy managed to get it to the garage. There was some doubt about that due to the ice on the driveway. Scott hurt his back moving the tool chest when he got home. He's stayed home from work today because he can barely move. I'm hoping he can see someone and get something for the pain, but UHS did away with walk-in service about a year ago. It's really, really hard to see anybody the same day now.
I hadn't prepared properly for having extra kids for lunch. All I had was mac 'n' cheese (and hot dogs with no buns), so I made that. Then I forgot to put away the leftovers. I'll have to clean out the pan later this morning.
Cordelia had a third friend come over around three. The three fifth grade girls are working on a science fair project-- They're bouncing balls and seeing which bounces the highest. They're not, so far as I can tell, looking at anything else about the balls or analyzing why a given ball bounces the way it does. I think they're not entirely clear on what a science fair project should entail. I've made a couple of suggestions, but Cordelia isn't listening.
HabitRPG is refusing to cycle my daily activities (I've tried synching. It's not helping) so that I can start checking them off. I hope this isn't indicative of ongoing problems. I'm really finding the dailies and the to-do list helpful. I think I'm not using the habits list correctly, though. I'm making no headway on them.
It's supposed to be warm today. Then, tonight, we're supposed to get something like another eight inches of snow. If all of that arrives at once, there won't be school tomorrow, and the talent show will be rescheduled or canceled (I'm hoping for rescheduled. Cordelia and her friend have worked hard on their song). And, of course, snow removal, even with a snow blower, is not what Scott's back needs. I'm just not convinced that I could do it in his place.
I have an extra child this morning, just for the before school part of things. Her parents had to be elsewhere extra early this morning. This means that she and Cordelia will simply sit and read for half an hour. Cordelia is not best pleased by this, but she and this other girl never play together. I think Cordelia's not sure how to suggest it, and the other girl always pulls out a book pretty much immediately. They're not friends, but they're also not not friends. They've done a lot of Rec & Ed sports together (her mother coaches volleyball. Her father coaches basketball).
