When we shopped at Meier's last weekend, Scott and I bought a different brand of instant coffee than what I'm currently used to. Years ago, I used to use this particular brand, but Kroger stopped carrying it, and Scott hasn't seen it at Target, either.

I just started one of those new tins on Thursday. It's stronger and more bitter than what I'm accustomed to now. As I recall, I always used to sweeten it beyond the sugar included in the mix. I stopped doing that when I switched to the Kroger house brand. Now, with four tins of this stuff, I need to start doing it again.

Half a packet of stevia isn't enough (my mug is sixteen ounces rather than eight), but a whole packet seems to be just a little bit too much. I'll probably end up using a whole packet for the coffee because three quarters of a packet is hard to measure (and it's by no means certain that that would be the right amount) and because a quarter of a packet leftover means accumulating leftover packets to reach a usable amount.

I know the right amount of honey by instinct, so it's very tempting to use that. I'm just trying not to add junk calories. It's so easy to think that just this once won't matter, and then I find myself doing it every day. My knees and my wardrobe will not appreciate it if I gain more weight.

Just had a quick thought: maybe liquid stevia would be more convenient? At least for home. I understand you need portability, sometimes, too. ^_^
