Mar. 16th, 2014 02:14 pmOne of the few things I like about Disney sitcoms (I don't like sitcoms in general, so it's not these in particular) is that the teenagers are usually played by real teenagers. The most recent new show, I Didn't Do It, however, seems to have older actors playing the teenagers. I'm hoping that's not a trend. If Cordelia's going to watch sitcoms (and she loves them), I'd rather they feature real kids.
I'm trying to find magazines appropriate to Cordelia's age. She likes Discovery Girls quite a lot, and Scott and I like it, too. Scott and I took a look at American Girl and rejected it. Right now, I'm looking at New Moon Girls. I like what I'm seeing, but I don't know if it will appeal to Cordelia. Does anybody know of other magazines for tween girls?

Date: 2014-03-17 12:47 am (UTC)* gets "Discover" it is through the discovery channel and all about science stuff. American girls was fun, but we were not into dolls that much. Time for kids, Teen People, and Cat fancy are all on her list.

* The last one I looked at for my girl when she outgrew "little kid" magazine was the Cricket family of magazines for tweens. There are several, with different areas of focus, all without ads. http://www.cricketmag.com/

Date: 2014-03-18 01:50 am (UTC)We do like Discovery Girls. It's tween focused rather than teen focused. I don't think there's a single mention of boys, and it's got a lot of stuff about real girls (no celebrities).
