Mar. 19th, 2014 12:34 pmIt's kind of nice seeing the snow and ice gradually vanish. There's still quite a lot of it, but we can see patches of the driveway now, and some people have bits of lawn showing. I considered not wearing my boots when I went out to haul in the trash bins, but I decided boots were wiser. My loafers are very nice, but they have no traction to speak of, and parts of the driveway are still ice covered.
I'm getting a bit worried-- We haven't heard anything yet about Cordelia's outdoor soccer team. Practices and games should start in April (and goodness, I hope the snow's gone by then!), so it's time for the coach to get in touch and tell us who he or she is and all of that. If there isn't a coach, Rec & Ed normally sends something out to the parents on the team to see if one of them can do the job. That's how Scott ended up coaching one season.
I woke up with a headache again today. It was mild so I didn't do anything about it except to lie down for a while after Cordelia went to school. When I got up from that about an hour ago, I had a full blown migraine. I've taken naratriptan and had a mug of white tea. I'm waiting to see how much difference that will make. At least, I can eat. That's not a given with a migraine.
This evening is the school's talent show. It had to be rescheduled from last Wednesday due to the snow day. There's a rehearsal after school, and Cordelia has volunteered Scott to take her friend and duet partner home after rehearsal. I'm just not sure she told Scott.
I wish I thought we could convince Cordelia to want to stay at her current school. I mean, we can overrule her and keep her there (and probably will), but she'll be mad at us and less inclined to try to make things work well.
She has suggested that I not bother getting up with her when she starts middle school. She pointed out that she now gets her own breakfast and her own clothes and that I don't do anything much except hang around with her. I'm not sure how I feel about that. I mean, she's very responsible, but I feel like I'm supposed to be around to make sure everything goes smoothly, just in case anything unexpected happens, and if she misses the bus, I'll have to be up to take her to school on the city bus. I don't know. My parents stopped getting up with us when we started middle school. I remember that being quite a shock.
The tea I tried earlier is Adagio Tea's cucumber white.
branchandroot traded me samples of several teas for some red zinger I had.
branchandroot told me that each bit can be used for about three steepings, so I'm going to try the cucumber white again later this afternoon. It's very mild. I put honey in it, but I don't think I needed to. I'm going to try it with no sweetener next and then consider using stevia if I think sweetening is really necessary.
