Cordelia reminded us this evening that we never did anything to celebrate her good report card (report cards came home on the 17th), so we took her for frozen yogurt. Scott had some in spite of his cold, and I don't think it made him feel any worse. Cordelia ended up not liking the flavor she picked out-- pistachio-- which was a pity. I had cheesecake and pineapple. Scott had blueberry and pineapple.

The frozen yogurt place is called Orange Leaf. It's pretty much self serve. They've got a bunch of machines built into the wall that dispense different flavors of frozen yogurt. One picks up a tub at the beginning and fills it with whatever flavor or flavors one wants. Then one can add toppings-- crushed candy bars, candies, fruit, nuts, that sort of thing. The price is by the ounce.

Cordelia doesn't like that I say 'frozen yogurt' each time. She insists that, to be correct, I should say 'fro-yo' and leave it at that. I probably won't because fro-yo isn't comfortable for me. I'm already horribly uncool in her eyes, so what's a little more?

It is really nice to have something approximating ice cream on our side of town again. Since the Baskin-Robbins closed a couple of years ago, there's been nothing. If we want ice cream, we have to make a major expedition of it, driving fifteen minutes or so. There's a Dairy Queen on Packard and one on Stadium, and there's the Washtenaw Dairy on Madison. I think there's a place downtown, too, but I'm not sure.

Most of those places have tasting cups available on request, for future flavor disappointment prevention. There's an Orange Leaf by my work and I'm pretty sure they had tastes available last time I was in. I tend to prefer the 16 Handles a little further away, though, so I'm not 100% sure.
