We're already making plans for the May birthdays. What with Scott's father's surgery and other people's plans, the only day when the extended family can get together to celebrate the four May birthdays is on Cordelia's actual birthday. Cordelia's not entirely pleased about that, but she's willing to put off our traditional birthday celebration for a day or two.

Scott's sister asked us if we wanted to have the gathering here, but I said no. I'm not sure we even have nine chairs, and I know we'd have real problems fitting nine around our table. Also, we can only seat five in our living room. There's just not much room in our house. I feel kind of bad that we never host family gatherings, but we don't really have the space. I also pointed out to Scott's sister that, if she hosts, her parents won't have so far to drive. I expect that to be an issue since the next day they'll be heading to Cleveland.

I don't know what we'll do for Mother's Day. Family tradition is that we all gather at someone's house or go for lunch together or some such, but our brother-in-law and nephew will be in Canada that day. Well, I assume they'll be back some time during the day. I doubt our nephew is going to miss school the next day.

All this focus on birthdays prompted Scott's sister to ask for wishlists now. It seems early to me, but I pointed everybody at my Amazon wishlist and came up with a handful of ideas for Cordelia. Maybe I can get her to set up an Amazon wishlist of her own. There are things on my wishlist that are best purchased used. I hope people are willing to do that. There are also a few things that I know nobody will buy because they're simply too expensive-- the Body Electric DVD sets and a board game called Fortune and Glory that's running almost $200 right now. I can't imagine any board game being worth $200. The Body Electric DVD sets are $90 each and are probably worth the money. I'll almost certainly buy at least one of them myself eventually. Those three things are mainly on my wishlist so that I don't lose track of them.

I did have a little trouble with Amazon-- I couldn't find the button to click to get a link to my wishlist. I had to tell people to search by my e-mail address instead. Hopefully, Scott's parents can figure out how to do that.

Are your brother-in-law and nephew going to the Dorchester camping trip in Canada? Kendra and I will be there that weekend, with her Girl Scout troop -- I bet your brother-in-law and nephew are going to it too. Kendra and I haven't been to that before; it's supposed to be huge. It does indeed end on Sunday, though I have the impression that by the time everybody clears out and drives home, it's pretty late in the day.

Yeah. I am thoroughly annoyed with the scouts for scheduling the camping trip on Mothers Day. :(
