I'd try an April Fools joke, but I can never think of anything. My mind doesn't work that way. I can appreciate some of what other people get up to, as long as it's not mean, but I can't think of anything myself.

Cordelia has started recording Tigers' baseball games. She watches them in bits and pieces. I suspect she's going to fall way behind as the season progresses because it takes her more than a day to watch an entire game. I find it interesting that this is the sport she's chosen to invest in. She's watched bits of soccer, volleyball and basketball games but only sporadically. She never recorded anything to watch later, and she'd generally wander away in the middle of the game. I think volleyball interested her most, but that was harder to find-- It was mostly local high school matches.

I decided to cancel this week's appointment with the social worker. I think Cordelia still has things to work on, but she doesn't seem to want to work on them, and I can't force her. I am trying to find solutions to the two specific problems we know about-- needing her iPad in order to sleep and being afraid to sit through movie previews. Cordelia's making progress on the iPad issue on her own, but she still says she doesn't want to go to fifth grade camp. The movie preview issue is more complicated because she keeps changing her story about what scares her about them as I suggest ways of decreasing her fear.

Scott's sister wants us to come for lunch on Sunday. We're not sure we can make it work because of Scott's Science Olympiad practice. If he can move that to Saturday, we can go. If he can't, we can't. It would be good to see them as it's been a while. It's also as close to an Easter meal with family as we're likely to get. Scott's parents come back from Florida the day before Easter. I can't imagine they'll be up to hosting anything.

I suppose we could host if we can get the house sufficiently clean. We have enough room for a meal with two guests. We couldn't do it if Scott's sister's family were involved, so I need to know when they'll be returning from their trip. I don't want to suggest it if we're going to be leaving them out.

Just blue-skying here... C. might possibly look at box scores online of Tigers games, after the game is over, to see where the action bits were, then fast-forward to watch just a couple of innings with a lot of hits and baserunning. (We do that sometimes.)

At a first approximation, a baseball game runs three hours, and a game is played most every day after the slow spring opening of the season. So yes, recording or watching every game is a huge commitment. I listen to more games on the radio than I watch on TV.

There is lots to read online about baseball and the Tigers. It's too bad Samara Pearlstein has let her cartoon Tigers blog lapse, or I would have recommended that one. ("Roar of the Tigers," still lots of old cartoons there but Samara appears to be too busy to keep it up any more.) "Bless You Boys" and the MLive.com/tigers page are where I usually start. Not sure how absorbable those would be for C. though.

C. is only one game behind, because today was a rain-out. :-)

There is an endless supply of sources of baseball information on line, so C. doesn't need to have found MLive. I like MLive for the written stories about the Detroit games and the players: for current score information I tend to use ESPN.com. I read a lot more about baseball than I watch it.

Tigers games will mostly move to evenings after this first week; the schedule makers give a little time for the weather to warm up in the Northern cities. The usual east coast starting time is 7 pm.

Next week: The Tigers play 3 west coast night games, which means a 10 pm start!!! The games will generally finish around 1 am Eastern. Zzzzzz. I don't try to watch those.

Don't let me get too pushy here.....
