Apr. 4th, 2014 08:25 amLast night's book fair was really, really slow. We were hoping to do at least $1000 in business, but I don't think we managed even half of that. It's too bad because the more stuff sells, the higher the percentage of the take the school gets. I think we'll be stuck at the lowest tier this year. That's still better than nothing, but it would have been nice to get more.
In a way, I'm glad it was slow. The process of checking people out was cumbersome. I had to use a finicky computer program, and I think I did all the cash transactions wrong. I hope it doesn't matter.
Cordelia did decide that she wanted two more books (the first time we went, she wanted only one book, a book on Greek mythology). She got the first book in two different series-- Conspiracy 365 (which has a book for every month of the year and has started up a sequel series) and The Last Thirteen (which has thirteen volumes. I don't think all of them are out yet). Both series are heavy action conspiracy stories. Cordelia isn't sure she'll like them. She thinks they may be too frenetic for her. Still, she's trying something new. I like that.

There are also a lot of series made up of many relatively short books, some all by one author, some with a different author for every volume. There're several three to six volume series by Gordon Korman. There's the Infinity Ring and the 39 Clues. There's a new one called the Spirit Animals or something like that. They all circulate like crazy at Cordelia's school library.
