We made it to the library and to Bubble Island before lunch. I returned about a dozen books and CDs and checked out eleven new items. Cordelia looked around for about two minutes before deciding there wasn't anything she wanted to read. She's really reluctant to browse at the library. I don't know why. Maybe it's that she's never seen us doing it. We just place holds on what we want and go from there.

I did try to get Cordelia going on GoodReads in hopes of getting some ideas for things she could read that would come from a source other than me. She won't read anything I recommend. She just won't. Cordelia likes the idea of GoodReads, but she doesn't think to keep up with it, and I don't feel like I should be constantly reminding her or walking her through it.

The line at Bubble Island today was considerably shorter than it was yesterday. There was also plenty of free parking (there's a structure right around the corner that's free on Sundays). I got a turtle tea (half green tea and half milk tea) with strawberry flavoring. Scott got pineapple green tea. Cordelia got a kiwi calpico. We never found either turtle tea or calpico at any of the other bubble tea places.

I do think we'll go to TK Wu again. It's within easy walking distance of the library, so it will make sense to go there if we're there on a Saturday. TK Wu has more flavors. It's about fifty cents cheaper, but the servings are smaller. I doubt we'll go to Mo Mo Tea again. I liked their ginger tea quite a bit, but they were more expensive, and the pearls weren't as well cooked.

Scott's currently running a Science Olympiad practice. He's teaching the fourth graders to use scientific notation on calculators. There's also some sort of equation to calculate the length of a year for various planets. Cordelia has retreated to her room to make more bracelets on her Rainbow Loom (she and two friends plan to sell bracelets and donate the money to charity). She hasn't had lunch yet which I think she's going to regret. There will be about fifteen minutes for her to eat between the end of this session and the time to leave to get her to her practice.

Your daughter sounds JUST like my daughter except that she will now occasionally accept our suggestions for things to read. How old is your daughter? Mine will be 12 in June.

Maybe we could get the two to talk to each other about what they like. My daughter really likes books with girls in them. Who can blame her.

Seattle Public Library has a thing where you can email them a description of the books you like or don't like, and why, and they will email you a list of 5 books they think you will enjoy. When I did it it wound up being more than 5 because they also included some sequels and "if you already tried that, try this" type things. So I found that really helpful. Maybe Cordelia can try that? you don't need to live in Seattle to do it. https://www.spl.org/using-the-library/get-help/your-next-5-books

I wonder if there's a tween book group at your local library. I agree with you that GoodReads would be a tough sell for Cordelia, although if she does sign up for an account, I'd be happy to add her as a friend. :)
