Apr. 15th, 2014 04:41 pmThe dentist was running late, but fortunately, I'd taken a book with me. She did a quick check to see that all of my fillings were where they were supposed to be but said, given that the pain is on both sides, she wouldn't bother with x-rays. She put some nasty, nasty stuff on my molars that's supposed to reduce sensitivity for a while. She dried my teeth, putting a shield between my cheek and my molars, slathered the stuff on, blew air on it to evaporate the solvent (which I think was most of the nasty I mentioned) then used a light to cure it.
I am going to start using Gel-cam twice a day instead of once, and I'm going to try a different sensitivity toothpaste. The dentist said they're all good. It's just that sometimes switching from one to another periodically can help.
It was lunch time when I got done at the dentist, so I headed across campus to Totoro. I stopped along the way and bought a drink so that I could take my before lunch medication (I forgot to take it before leaving the dentist's). At Totoro, I had a beef teriyaki bento and only dripped a little teriyaki sauce on one sleeve.
From there, I walked to the downtown bus station. The distance between Totoro and the bus station is about as far as I can walk at a go (so is the distance from the dentist to Totoro, for that matter), so I was glad to get there. I had about a ten minute wait for the bus and had a pleasant conversation with an older man who was waiting for the same bus.
The sidewalks were a bit icy. The pavement was warm enough that the snow we got melted, but it got cold enough to refreeze. It was just a bit too frozen to be slush. I don't think I came particularly close to falling at any point during my walking, but I was definitely walking carefully because it was slick.
I thought about getting bubble tea since Bubble Island is only a block out of the way on the walk between the dentist and Totoro. I'd have been able to stop and rest, too, so the extra distance wouldn't have mattered. I decided against it because I had bubble tea on Sunday and because it was later than I'd expected it to be when I left the dentist's. I wanted to get lunch and get home so that I wouldn't miss Body Electric and Sit and Be Fit.
