the_rckOur internet was out most of yesterday evening (the whole time Scott and Cordelia were gone for soccer practice and then some). It was out again this morning. Right at the moment, it seems stable enough, but it could vanish at any time. zhelana, the internet going out is why I disappeared so abruptly from our chat. I apologize.
Supposedly, AT&T is sending someone out to find out what the problem is. They set six this evening as their target time. I'm not holding my breath.
I'm starting to know the second graders in the class I help with at library. It's coming late in the year as there are only six weeks left in the school year, but I was thinking it wouldn't happen at all.
I hope the school does get some money for the library next year. Not only will the librarian, whoever that is, have to build the collection to accommodate middle school students, but also there are very popular items in the collection that are falling apart. I'm mostly thinking of the Pokemon books right now, but there are also the Diary of a Wimpy Kid books and the Ripley's Believe it or Not books.
I'm trying to decide whether I want to keep my subscription to Time. I started getting it because it was cheap through Publishers Clearing House, and I do read it. I'm just not sure I'd miss it if I didn't get it. It just feels very slight, like there's not much substance to it. I miss the news magazines I remember from my teenage years. As I recall, one could follow a fair amount of what was happening at least in the US.
The other magazines I get are Discover, Smithsonian, and Archeology. I definitely plan to keep getting all three of those. A lot of what I read doesn't stick with me, but I like the feeling that I'm learning about something however temporarily.
