Scott thinks my remix is done. It's a little more than 1100 words, so I have the minimum word count. My main hesitation is that most of what I've written is barely implied in the original fic. It wasn't the point of the original fic. I haven't addressed that point. Then again, if I'm telling this story, the original point isn't where I'm going. I find the set up much more interesting. In the original, a character is stated to be in a situation, and as a result, things happen. The situation itself isn't explored. I've explored the situation, and the things that happen come after what I've written. Does that seem like a proper remix or do I need to echo the events, too?

Did you get an answer to your question? I could read through your remix and the original tomorrow afternoon, if you want.

Basically, you get to decide what the salient points of the story are. Those stay the same. The rest is up for grabs. Except pairings. You can't change pairings (although I say that and I turned a pairing into a threesome last year -- but it was totally legit because the third person was there already, I just changed the dynamic). At least, no one complained when I did that?

Just wrote one which hasn't been revealed yet, in which I decided the important bits were MC's having a fight, being cold, and turning into animals. My story looks quite different from the original, but not all remixes do.

I consulted with someone who's done Remix a few times. She thinks the story's not done because not enough of what's in the original is in what I've written. Since that was the question more than whether or not the story was properly done, I'm going to be writing more. The story, as a story, was done. The story, as a remix, isn't done. The distinction is a fine one.

I just hope I can expand without harming what I've written so far. I'll be taking it into territory that isn't necessary for the story but is necessary for the remix.
