I've got my Not Prime Time assignment. It's definitely something I can write. The main difficulty will be coming up with a unique angle on it because the request is for something I've seen done a lot in the fandom. My recipient didn't do a dear writer letter. The fic they've written is all in fandoms I know nothing about. The prompt was a single sentence. I'm a little nervous that I won't come up with something pleasing to my recipient because I know nothing about their taste or what they love about the fandom and characters. The story's not due until the beginning of July, so I can afford to take a little time to mull over my options.

The soccer game today was, in fact, cold. There was a strong wind that made it seem colder than it was, and the sky was overcast. I kept tucking my hands into my sleeves because it was too cold to have them exposed. I don't know how the girls who were just in t-shirts and shorts managed. Cordelia wore a long sleeved shirt under her team t-shirt, and she wore sweat pants.

I think Cordelia's team lost the game, but I didn't keep close track of the score, and it was close enough that it might have been a tie. The girls played pretty well, according to Scott (I generally can't tell. I don't necessarily know what I'm seeing). I commented to another mother that it's a huge difference between how they play now and how they played in kindergarten. For one thing, they actually pass the ball now, and they understand more or less how to stay in position.

The other mother I was talking to has a daughter at Cordelia's school, so we discussed that. Her daughter will also be staying for next year rather than going to the big middle school. The other mother said that she won't be sorry to see the current principal go because her daughter has been bullied since second grade and the current principal has refused to do anything about it, saying that there's no proof.

Because they were too lazy to provide any information to inform your decision? If they don't like the story, it's on them, not you [assuming you don't half-ass it with something more suitable for a Dick and Jane book].
