May. 6th, 2014 08:22 amToday's going to be a busy day. I have to go and vote. I have to take Cordelia to the dentist. There's a meeting at the school this evening. I also promised to make a rhubarb pie. I've got time to do it all, but I won't have much down time.
They changed where we vote again. We no longer go to Cordelia's school (a block away) but rather have to walk about fifteen minutes to get to the polling place. That's at the extreme edge of what I can walk, but I feel stupid taking the bus for two stops (not to mention that the bus only comes once every half an hour. I can walk home in the time I'd spend waiting for the bus).
I think I'm going to wait an hour or so to go vote in hopes that it will warm up a little bit. It's currently winter coat weather. There wasn't frost on the grass which surprised me given that it was only 33 F. Cordelia chose to wear her sweatshirt rather than her winter coat. I let her do that. She'll be cold during cross country, but she has to learn that herself, and if she were going to run instead of walk, she wouldn't be particularly cold.
I'm not best pleased by the timing of Cordelia's dentist appointment. It's late enough in the day that we'll run into the evening rush on our way home. Anything after about 4:00 on the outbound #2 is nasty with no chance of being able to sit down. I'm a bit nervous about losing track of Cordelia in the crowd. I try not to take the #2 before 10:00 or after 4:00. Of course, her appointment being late means she's only going to miss an hour of school.
They've announced the schedule for school in the fall. School will start at 8:04 and end at 2:50, middle school hours. We won't have to get up any earlier, but Cordelia won't have time to spin up the way she likes to. She was really hoping that they'd keep elementary school hours, so she's disappointed. My main concern is that Cordelia will come home in the middle of my exercise programs. I don't want those disrupted, so she and I will have to work something out.
