Remix has opened. I got a story called We All Fall Down (The Ashes to Ashes Remix). It remixes my Weiss Kreuz story, "Picking Through the Ashes," the third story in my Torsion arc, by shifting the point of view to Yohji and showing a scene I omitted in my story. As with the original, this one contains seriously dubious consent (enough to rate the rape/non-con warning). It is also definitely NSFW.

I'm pleased. I didn't expect a remix of any part of Torsion because it's kind of a complicated universe, but I think my remixer did an excellent job. They clearly understood all the parts of the arc but didn't bog down their story trying to wedge in all the backstory.

I haven't read it, but I imagine that it would feel AMAZING to have someone remix a story that you've written, especially if the writer did a good job with it and seemed to really understand your own story. Neat beans!!!

Remix is fascinating. I love seeing what someone else does with the basic idea that I had. I've seen people take a short fic and turn it into something much longer. I've seen people change point of view and add details that I wish I'd thought of. In one case, somebody wrote the companion story that I'd kind of had in mind but hadn't written or really articulated. I'd just known that something of the sort was probably true.

As a remixer, it's a lot of fun, too. I'm generally working with a story that never would have occurred to me to begin with, and I have to rework it into something that's in my own voice. I'm proud of the remixes I've written. They've all stretched me as a writer.
