Last Thursday evening, I tried Tazo's honeybush tea (no caffeine and thus safe in the evening). I finished it, but I didn't like it very much. I was surprised given that I'd liked Twining's honeybush, mandarin & orange. I guess what I liked there was the orange flavor.

Sunday morning, I tried Talbot Teas' blissful blueberry. It's caffeine free, so it didn't help me stay awake through the afternoon. I had to do that myself. I didn't love it, but I didn't hate it, either. It's another hibiscus tea, and those are generally pretty good for me. [livejournal.com profile] booniverse has offered to give me all she has of the blissful blueberry because she doesn't like it. I'll probably take her up on that.

Monday, I had some of Allegro's organic Indian chai. I'd had it once before, but I never wrote about it, so I thought I should. I bought it at Whole Foods a few months ago, back when I bought the vanilla coconut white tea and the peach blossom oolong. The first time I made it, it was a bit too bitter. I think I used water that was too hot (the directions call for boiling the water and then letting it cool 'briefly.' I'm unsure how much time 'briefly' demands). I used Whole Food's brand stevia last time. This time, I used a package of Truvia that [livejournal.com profile] booniverse passed on to me from a coworker. I didn't notice any flavor from the Truvia (I actually started wondering if I'd remembered to add it) but no sweetness either. Truvia combines erythritol with stevia.

Tuesday morning, I tried Stash's peach black tea. I could both smell and taste the peach. It's not a bad choice, as black teas go. I don't think the stevia does it any favors, however. Maybe, once I finish this (rather large) box of stevia, I'll try buying some Truvia. I had no ill effects from using it on Monday, so it's probably safe in that regard. Who knows?

Wednesday, I tried Tazo's organic chai. I had that leftover from when I collected a bunch of tea bags for Cordelia to try. I hadn't bothered to give that one to her because I didn't want to get her started on caffeine so young. Instead, I tucked it away and forgot about it until I found it a couple of days ago (the other stuff I found with it, I can't try as it's all chamomile which I'm allergic to. Cordelia is iffy on chamomile. She loves Celestial Seasoning's honey vanilla chamomile but dislikes every other chamomile tea we've tried). Anyway, this was a chai. It didn't stand out from other chais for me. Maybe I need to drink more different chais so that I start to distinguish between them. It was kind of bitter, but the flavor was strong enough that I barely noticed the stevia aftertaste.
