May. 23rd, 2014 08:05 amScott called his mother last night. They've moved his father out of the ICU. There are still problems with his blood pressure being too low, but he's doing pretty well. He had some applesauce yesterday.
Scott had intended to call early enough that he might get a chance to speak to his father, but he had car trouble on the way home from work. Pretty much all the warning lights came on all at once. The current theory is that it's the alternator, but we won't know for sure until they dig into car. Scott's got a rental right now.
Scott's call to his mother was also delayed by the school science fair. Cordelia and two friends put together a project about bouncing balls. They dropped a bunch of balls and measured how high they bounced. They didn't look at why different balls bounced or didn't bounce. I tried to talk them into that, but I couldn't persuade them.
There were maybe twenty different projects at the fair. Well, twenty not counting the kindergarten projects. All the kindergartners did the same project-- They took food wrappers and containers and attached them to a poster board. Next to each, they put a baggy containing as much sugar as a serving of that food contains. Their projects took up three tables.
Scott had to go in early this morning. They called about 8:30 last night to tell him. That's after he would normally be in bed on a go in early night, but there's not much to be done about it. He's also scheduled to go in early tomorrow, but we're hoping that working early today will mean somebody else gets stuck with tomorrow. We have no idea what the rest of the weekend will look like. He didn't work last weekend, so if there's work this weekend, he's likely to get stuck.
This weekend, we have shopping to do. There're the groceries of course, but we also need to get Cordelia new sneakers and a new bathing suit. I suspect there are other things for camp that we need to buy. I need to make a list of what we should take with us. I'd like new bug spray and sunscreen. What we've got is years old, but Scott thinks it's just fine.
