May. 25th, 2014 04:33 pmWe just spent about three hours shopping and such. We didn't get everything done, but we still have all day tomorrow and most of the day on Tuesday.
We started out at Target with bathing suits. Cordelia tried on four. Only one fit. Then we went looking for shoes. Cordelia is in the difficult point between kids' sizes and adult sizes. There were only about three pairs in her size. We ended up with a choice between quite a bit big and just barely big enough. We went with the quite a bit big since we want these shoes to last a year if at all possible.
We bought some baby clothes for friends who are in the process of adopting a baby. Scott found a pair of shorts that fit him. I got two cheap pots for the two tomato plants I plan to buy. Scott and Cordelia looked at bikes, but there wasn't anything in Cordelia's size. Scott's against going to a specialty bike shop because of the expense. I can see that because Cordelia doesn't ride much (though she might more now that the neighbor kids she plays with have bikes).
From there we went to the library. That was straightforward. Scott and I wanted lunch. Cordelia rejected everything we put forward because she was hoping that we'd give up and go home. We ended up getting sandwiches and smoothies a couple of blocks from the library.
Then we did the grocery shopping. Cordelia was kind of cranky about that. She was hoping to be home to play with the neighbors. We actually found everything-- well, almost everything-- this time. The thing we couldn't find was large shell pasta. There's a recipe I want to try that involves stuffing large shell pasta with meat and cheese and spinach. Cordelia won't like it, but I've given up on trying to please her. The largest shells I could find still weren't very big, and they were Barilla which we're no longer buying. This time, after three weeks of looking, Scott finally found the lemon juice. Now I can make lemonade of a sort with water, lemon juice and stevia.
We didn't get to the Produce Station. Their website says they're open tomorrow, so we'll probably go then. I have a list of the plants I want to buy, so I shouldn't have to browse much.
We also have several bits of home maintenance to get to, most of it things Scott has to do. He's waiting for the sun to be a bit lower in the sky to start the outdoor work. Hopefully, we can sneak changing the sheets in soon. There's no great rush on that. It'll be at least an hour and a half before I can wash the old ones.
