the_rckCordelia worked bagel Friday this morning. When we got there, there were no bagels. We thought, at first, that the delivery was late, but it turns out that Bagel Fragel didn't make any bagels for any schools for this week. They didn't realize we'd want them.
The mother in charge of bagel Friday went to Bagel Fragel and bought what she could get. There weren't nearly enough chocolate chip or vanilla cinnamon bagels available (usually, we get forty of each). We ended up with extra plain and a couple of flavors we don't usually sell.
There were four kids cutting bagels when I left. Only two of them were actually scheduled to work. The other two got drafted when the school secretary turned up with two extra bagel cutters.
Cordelia had her first softball practice of the season last night. She said she didn't want to go and that she didn't know why she'd said she wanted to play softball. I told her it's too late to change her mind now. I don't want to force her to do something she hates, but we paid a bit more than $100 for her to play, and I'd like to see that money doing something. I think, I hope, it was more that she didn't want to go to practice last night than that she doesn't want to play at all.
Scott told me that Cordelia refused to try batting. She told him that she was sure she'd be bad at it because she hasn't practiced since last summer. Scott pointed out that, chances are, none of the other girls have practiced either. He told me that it didn't help that none of the girls she knows on the team were there.
There's another practice on Sunday and then one next Thursday. After that, there's nothing until the 22nd (I think the coach is skipping Father's Day because he knows lots of families wouldn't come), and then there's a practice every Sunday through the beginning of August. We don't know yet when the games will be. They'll probably get us the schedule next week some time.
