Jun. 10th, 2014 08:54 amCordelia enjoyed both field trips yesterday. She emptied her water bottle rapidly while at the pool, she tells us, but I think there was a drinking fountain. Also at the pool, a man apparently passed out and had to be taken away in an ambulance. That made quite an impression on all the kids.
Cordelia came home from the Humane Society wanting a pet even more than she did before. Unfortunately for her, I'm allergic to cats and dogs both (and rabbits and mice and guinea pigs and...). The dog allergy is mild enough that I might be able to live with a dog, maybe, but that would be a big risk to take. Also, I don't enjoy animals much. They're a lot of work and responsibility, and, as the person home all day, I would have to do most of the care for and interaction with a pet. I particularly don't want a dog. I would resent the animal for its basic needs.
Cordelia's school is having a field day this morning. The PTO called for volunteers, but I have a doctor's appointment in the middle of the morning and so couldn't help. The fifth graders tie dyed t-shirts to wear today. They say 'Everything Is Awesome' and have the school logo on them.
I finished the third part of my Not Prime Time story yesterday. The story may only have four parts. I'd like five to make it a five things fic, but I'm not sure I've got five things. I will start writing part four as soon as I get home from my doctor's appointment today and see if something for part five occurs to me.
It looks like Scott's Babylon 5 group won't meet this week. Apart from me and Scott, only one player can make it. I should e-mail her and see if she'd be interested in playing Sentinels of the Multiverse instead. Scott's eager to try out some variations.
Cordelia is going to miss two softball games next week. The volleyball camp I signed her up for doesn't keep standard camp hours-- Instead of running M-F from 8:30 or 9:00 to 3:00 or 3:30, it runs M-W 9:00-8:00 and Th 9:00-12:00. The softball games are Monday and Wednesday at 6:30, so she can't do both. The camp cost a lot and is a special, one time opportunity. Plus, Cordelia likes volleyball better than she likes softball.
